Too good not to share: Brand Archetypes

Hey Reader,

Embody your brand archetypes & make it easy for your community to hire you: what is a brand archetype and how it will help your business

I'm dropping gems below!

First off, what is an archetype?

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary, an archetype is

  • “the original pattern or model of which all things of the same type are representations or copies”.
  • It also means “an inherited idea or mode of thought in the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung that is derived from the experience of the race and is present in the unconscious of the individual”

Fun tidbit, in the synonyms section, some related words that came up were: ancestor, precursor, predecessor

Cool cool cool, so what is a brand archetype?

Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung explored how myths and symbols interacted with our conscious and subconscious worlds. He developed personality archetypes, also referred to as the 12 brand archetypes.

The archetypes: The Lover, Creator, Sage, Caregiver, Innocent, Jester, Magician, Ruler, Hero, Regular Guy, Rebel, Explorer

“Jung felt that disunity among thoughts in the personal subconscious and the conscious could create internal conflicts which could lead to particular personality traits or anxieties. Such inner conflicts could be resolved by allowing repressed ideas to emerge into the conscious and accommodating (rather than destroying) them, thus creating a state of inner harmony, through a process known as individuation.” (from psychologistworld.com)

How discovering your archetypes can help your business

Embodying your archetype is actually not rigid, but a different modality to invite in play through your work. You can share what your values are so that on first glance, your ideal clients and collaborators get a feel for your energy and vibe.

When you are authentically creating, moving, and speaking from this place, you can quickly draw in your dream people even before they read about your services. Elevating you from freelancer to CEO of your business.

You don’t need fancy photoshoots or coded animations on your website. You showcase your expertise with cohesive branding, creating an immediate sense of trust and safety because your work looks and feels like you across platforms and spaces. All before they get on a sales call (or not even needing one and go straight to booking with you).

This has been true for me that I even got a payment notification from a dream client while I was traveling through Europe. My branding, newsletter, website, and body of work spoke for me.

How you can find your archetypes

Let Jung’s brand archetypes be a starting point, instead of the end all be all. Make up your own archetypes, look to your favorite characters in media (Barbie or Bratz? Miss Piggy or Kermit? Mr. Darcy or Mr. Bingley? Blair or Serena?), reference the tarot system, get inspired by your astrological signs. Think of those magazine personality quizzes!

Other tools and practices you can use to discover your archetype: oracle/tarot decks like the Wild Unknown Archetype deck or meditations such as my free meditation you can download on my website.

In this season of my business, I feel like I am embodying: The Sensual Creative Maven, Poet, Storyteller, Creator

Hey Reader, You got the goods to compose a pop hit that's stuck on a loop in the minds of Gen Z on their way to work. Yes I believe you're THAT talented. And maybe "you're not a singer", a la Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso", but I bet you have the tenacity and drive (maybe deep down, maybe bubbling under the surface, maybe it's boldly public for all to see). But oftentimes you're overwhelmed with external noise and expectations of what success and culturally-relevant achievement looks and...
